In 2022 I would like to dedicate the Shudokan Masterclass to two great kata:
The Shinpatan is today practiced in Shito-ryu, Shindo Jinen Ryu Karate-Jutsu and in some Shudokan schools (Doshinkan, Keishinkan, Yoshinkan and Tsuchiya-ryu).
In Karatedo Doshinkan of Ichikawa Isao, however, the sister kata Shinpacho has been preserved. According to oral tradition, the kata Shinpacho was Toyama Sensei's second favorite kata after the Koryu Gojushiho. Exciting, isn't it?
I have planned the 2022 Shudokan Masterclass as follows:
Since it is a masterclass, we will work on some of the applications together. There will also be home exercises :-) But don't worry, I will also contribute some videos with great applications.
Accompanying or following the masterclass all participants will receive the following teaching material:
Among other things, a PDF book in which the history and the sequence of the kata are described in detail, several videos on the sequences of the two kata, videos with a selection of training options and realistic applications for self-defense, and much more.
My goal is to pass on the inner techniques of these two kata and also to encourage and motivate you to find your "secrets" in the kata as well.
Training days and times:
The training starts at 18:30 CET. This corresponds to 09:30 am in Seattle, 11:30 am in Mexico City and 12:30 pm in New York City. I have given the times only for some selected cities. If you want to know the training time for your city, feel free to email me at shudokan@gmx.net.

The number of participants is limited, especially because of the personal accompaniment of the training sessions. Therefore, you should register as soon as possible.

- In total there will be 5 Zoom teaching sessions
- One teaching session will be on the history of the two kata.
- Two teaching sessions are planned on the sequence of the kata. One session will be on Shinpatan and the other on Shinpacho.
- Two teaching sessions will cover the bunkai, the practical applications, of the kata. Again, there is one teaching session for Shinpatan and one for Shinpacho.
